The West Springfield Housing Authority offers a range of housing programs built around one goal: helping local residents find a safe, decent place to call home.
Four of our developments are set aside specifically for elderly and disabled persons, with accessible units and supportive living environments.
One development and several scattered-site dwellings are dedicated to families, offering comfortable, secure homes throughout West Springfield.
We also manage two properties designated specifically for residents with special needs.
West Springfield residents will receive preference when applying to any of our housing programs.
Our elderly and handicapped housing program (Chapter 667) provides housing for qualified low-income elderly and handicapped persons, as defined in Massachusetts General Law Chapter 121B.
Our family housing program (Chapter 200 and Chapter 705) is a state-funded program that provides housing for low-income families in the Town of West Springfield.
Households seeking public housing assistance must apply for housing in the community where they want to live.
Each local housing authority (LHA) issues its own application for the housing it manages. Applications are available by calling or visiting a local housing authority, or by using the forms available on the DHCD website.
There is no limit to the number of LHAs a household can apply to.
